Trends in Animation

The most successful animated films at the box office in the past few years have mostly been sequels and they have all been 3D computer animated and are all rated U or PG. Big companies like Pixar and Dream Works are always creating films every 2 or 3 years and they make them intending to make several sequels from them and create a franchise so they can make more money, they are also intended for children and families so like U and PG they do this to so they don't restrict the age genre so anyone can watch it and they usually include a few adult related jokes. All animated films nowadays are intended for kids and families you don't see many over 15 rated animated films, animated TV and Web Series are intended and aimed at Teens and Young Adults.
Animated TV series nowadays have a mixture of ones aimed at kids and ones aimed at Teens and Young Adults. I would say that the most sucessful Animated Shows these days are aimed at Teens and Young Adults they are very long lasting and have been on for years like South Park and Family Guy. Cartoon Network are the main source of young and teen cartoons the most successful ones are 2D animated with 3D backgrounds and I would say very odd and abstract, they are driven by character, key events and have no really long length story they all tell a story in one single episode.
The most successful web videos and series on youtube and other websites are short, simple, catchy and are easy to re-watchable and easy just to watch again and again and not get bored and should be memorable.
